How barber commission works
On commission, the barber keeps a percentage of what their clients pay and the shop keeps the rest. In return, the shop covers rent, products, booking tools and marketing.
Common commission rates
Service commission often ranges from 40% to 60%. Product sales usually pay 10% to 20%. Experienced barbers with a full book often negotiate a higher share.
- New barbers: 40%–50%
- Experienced barbers: 50%–60%
- Product sales: 10%–20%
Make the split transparent
Agree on the rates, who pays card fees and how tips are handled before the first day. Recording each appointment with its value makes the monthly calculation simple for both sides.
